#RockMyTBR is a challenge hosted by the wonderful Sarah K @ The YA Book Traveler and it’s a wonderful way of going through that pesky TBR pile that somehow just won’t read itself. The challenge is to read one (or ten or fifty) books you already own, whether it be a physical book or an ebook, a month and it’s open to every reader! You can sign up on Sarah’s blog here.
Sarah has also made a tag, which will make choosing books to read a little bit easier, and that’s what I’ll be doing today.
HERE GOES NOTHING.
ROCK MY TBR SONG AND BOOK TAG
(I may end up cheating a little bit because I am incapable of making decisions.)
Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)— A Contemporary I Want to Read
SAINT ANYTHING by Sarah Dessen/SUICIDE NOTES FROM BEAUTIFUL GIRLS by Lynn Weingarten
I am a huge, huge fan of Sarah Dessen, and I couldn’t WAIT to read Saint Anything. Yet, it’s still sat on my TBR. Go figure.
Suicide Notes From Beautiful Girls is another book I was dying to read but never got round to. Also: that cover. *bug eyes*
Shut Up and Dance (Walk to the Moon) – Most Anticipated Book You Have
THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE by Patrick Ness
I added The Rest Of Us Just Live Here when my friend raved about it a month or so ago, and this weekend I picked up a signed edition, so now I have NO excuse not to read it.
Centuries (Remix) (Fall Out Boy) – A Twist on a Classic or Fairy Tale
WINTER SPELL by Clair Legrand/CRUEL BEAUTY by Rosamund Hodge
Winterspell has been sitting on my TBR since it came out in… 2014? Which isn’t as long as some books, but already far too long with a cover as gorgeous as that.
I read Crimson Bound this year and didn’t love it, but my friend told me Cruel Beauty is a hundred times better, so when I had the chance of snapping it up half price, I did so with the intent of reading it straight away… and we all know how that goes.
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot (The Flaming Lips) – A Science Fiction Book or a Book Set in the Future
THESE BROKEN STARS by Amie Kaufman & Megan Spooner/RED RISING by Pierce Brown
Another two books I’ve had on my TBR for a while, and just haven’t gotten round to reading them. I have These Broken Stars as both an audiobook and an ebook, and Red Rising in paperback.
She Looks So Perfect (5 Seconds of Summer) – A Book with a Girl on the Cover
GRAVE MERCY by Robin LaFevers/THE FINISHER by David Baldacci
Mother dearest found these two beauties at a second hand bookshop for me in late 2013/early 2014, and I still haven’t read them. Absolutely shameful, because both heroines look like kickass characters, and I LOVE kickass characters!
Africa (Toto) – A Book Set in a Foreign Country
This is absolutely shameful, but also really good, because I don’t currently own any books on my TBR set in a foreign country that I haven’t already read. So go me! But also, eh, because what do I read now? I’m going to go with:
The Magicians is set in New York, and Captive Prince is fantasy. Although I’m a bit “uh” about Captive Prince because it’s been marketed as “slave erotica” and well…
Another One Bites the Dust (Queen) – A Book or Books That Will Complete a Series
POISON STUDY, MAGIC STUDY, & FIRE STUDY by Marie V Snyder
So I actually started Poison Study a year ago, but never finished it, so I’m counting this series. Although the way this series is mapped out on Goodreads is REALLY confusing, because it seems like there are actually two or three other series along with this one, and they all tie into each other. But let’s see if I can read these three first!
Someone New (Hozier) – A Book by an Author You Haven’t Read Yet
INK AND BONE by Rachel Caine
I bought this one for half-off because I’d seen it all over GR, and because a lot of my friends said Rachel Caine is an amazing author. I’m taking the plunge!
Hello (Adele) – A Book you DNF or Weren’t in the Mood for at the Time
UPROOTED by Naomi Novik
I’d put this one on-hold after… 70 pages? And didn’t pick it up again because I really wasn’t feeling it at the time. Maybe I’ll change my mind this time around.
Love At First Sight (Kylie Minogue)– A Book you Bought Because of the Cover
LUMIERE by Jacqueline E. Garlick
LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT THE PRETTY. HOW COULD I SAY NO?
So that’s me! Are you joining Sarah’s #RockMyTBR challenge? What books have been sitting on your TBR forever and you really want to read? Let me know in the comments!
