Aly and the Booktubers She Wants to Marry

I have a confession: I never really understood people’s obsession with YouTube. Sure, I looked up funny videos and music videos when I wanted to, but I never really got the ‘spiral into the YouTube black hole of doom.’ Except this one time when my sister and I watched hilarious Scary Maze Game reaction videos for two hours.

Anyway. YouTube has never been my thing unless I desperately needed an unhealthy dose of funny cat video playlists to keep me from murdering a poor bystander who had nothing to do with the awful day I had.

Until I stumbled upon the booktube part of YouTube. I knew booktubers existed, but I never watched the videos before. I don’t know why. Maybe it was laziness. Maybe it’s because I have a very weird way of thinking when it comes to listening to other people talking at me and not to me. I don’t know.

But it all changed when I clicked on one of Sasha Alsberg’s videos. You guys. Sasha Alsberg is a YouTubing goddess and she has ruined my life. I am hopelessly addicted and in love with her videos. (Also, she follows me on Goodreads and I still can’t believe it. What is my life?)

Without further ado, here’s a list of booktubers that should be on everyone’s to watch list!

These ladies are kickass, funny and have some of the best videos on YouTube. I watch their videos religiously whenever they upload, and I am forever filling my TBR with new books thanks to their suggestions. They host readathons, and also have their own book clubs that anyone can take part in, but what makes these people truly special is that they absolutely, 100% love what they do, and they have one reason for booktubing, and one reason alone: they love books. What else is there?

If you’re ever having a bad day, or feel the need to try something new, I highly recommend you click on one of those lovely ladies’ pages, because they will brighten up your day!

Do you have any favourite booktubers? Recommend me some in the comments!

  1. Oh how much I relate to this: “I knew booktubers existed, but I never watched the videos before. I don’t know why. Maybe it was laziness. Maybe it’s because I have a very weird way of thinking when it comes to listening to other people talking at me and not to me. I don’t know.”
