Blogging is hard. Reading is hard. And it’s even harder when you have no one to enjoy it with — no one to squeal and cry with you, no one who just gets you on that emotional level and makes you realise that you are not alone.
I never realised how important the online bookish community was until I became a part of it, and I have never looked back. It’s so great to know that there are people all around the world who feel the same way as you, and totally understand you, and offer you chocolate and tissues when that book just won’t leave your feelings alone, darnit.
So this post is dedicated entirely to those wonderful people! Clicking on the links will take you to their twitter pages.
In no particular order:
Sierra Abrams @ yearning to read
I accidentally stumbled upon Sierra’s Twitter page a few months ago, and we have become friends ever since. Squealing over Matthew Daddario (HUNKY HUNK IF THERE EVER WAS ONE) is our forte, and I know I can rely on Sierra to send me GIFs whenever I’m feeling low. Also, we have many plans to travel Eastern Europe together and I AM SO EXCITED. *faints* This girl is awesome and kickass and super funny, and 110% supportive when your laptop decides to die on you and you’re too busy crying to think rationally.
Anissa @ fairyloot
Anissa is the coolest girl I’ve ever met and I cannot believe I have finally met my bookish twin, and also that she loves Rhysand as much as me. BECAUSE RHYS IS THE KING OF BAES. I am super grateful that we clicked so quickly, and that she lives so close, and that one day we will meet and drink wine and cry over books together. Her snapchats always make me laugh, and if I ever need to vent, Anissa is there to listen and join in when need be. I LOVE YOU TWINNIE.
Asma @ Icey Designs
I first messaged Asma because I started reading The Rose & The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh and it sort of escalated from there. She got me hooked on Assassin’s Creed (both a curse and a blessing) and I desperately want to read her WIP because it sounds A M A Z I N G and totally like something that’ll rock the New York Times Bestseller List. She’s funny and sweet and really lovely, and GAH. And also, I got her hooked on The Raven Cycle and now we feel the feels together. It’s a magical, ruinous thing. Also, she teases me with books that aren’t out yet and laughs whilst I screech like a banshee because MORE FEELS. You da best!
Jenn @ Jennzahling
Jenn and I first spoke because we were trading books (I think she sent me The Dream Thieves ARC for my collection) and, again, it escalated from there. We talk pretty much on a daily basis and she makes my day so much brighter! We love many of the same books, have buddy read a bunch of times, and I know I can rely on her to make me laugh. I’m super excited to one day meet and talk books! She’s my partner in crime when it comes to moaning about things that get on my nerves, and I always feel lighter after I’ve done a good deal of venting. LOVE YOU!
Natalie @ pinktailmon
It goes without saying that Natalie is one of my online besties. I don’t know how I survived so long without her, but my god am I grateful to have her in my life. She’s read all my WIPs, cheered me on when life got too much and threatens me with Taylor Swift lyrics when I can’t be bothered to write. Without her, the first draft of Last Winter would never have been finished and even though it’s a pile of poop and needs some SERIOUS editing and rewriting, I am so proud it’s done. Thank you, Natalie, for being awesome and dealing with me. It must be hard when I don’t behave. *smothers in love and affection*
Steph @ 100% Rock Magazine
Steph is the person who got me into proper blogging in the first place and, for that, I am so very grateful. She’s also funny, sweet and always there for me when I need a chat. Also, she has one of the craziest book collections I’ve ever seen in my life and always manages to spark up my bookshelf envy. SO MANY PRETTIES. Thank you, Steph, for being yourself, and for being awesome on a daily basis. What would I do without you?
Inge, you are my best friend, my saviour, and my hero. I am so glad we started talking that day two years ago, because you’ve made my life so much brighter. You are funny, you are sweet and you are kind, and you are, most importantly, the strongest person I know. You’ve been my rock through some of the hardest, toughest times and I honestly do not think I’d be the person I am now if it weren’t for you, and I am so proud of you — for how far you’ve come and how strong you are every day. So thank you for making me laugh, and for giving me hope, and for listening to my insane ramblings when I’m deprived of sleep and miss my cats. Love you to the moon and back, my little chicken!
