It is autumn. IT IS AUTUMN. As I’m typing this, I have very cold hands and feet. I am wearing two pairs of socks, a comfortable sweater, and spend most of my days huddled under a blanket, clutching hot cups of tea and my cat. AND I LOVE IT. This is so much better than not being able to do anything because of the heat. Everything smells of apples and apple crumble. I’ve had pumpkin soup and it was beautiful.
I love autumn.

I did most of my reading during the first week of September, when I wasn’t feeling so bad yet. After that, it was mostly a few chapters here and there. BUT I did read some really good books! I was especially moved by Dancing in the Rain, which is the story of 9/11 but told through a child’s eyes. The Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency was just good plain fun. Girl Up was SO GOOD — it’s about sexism and feminism, but also inserts a healthy sense of humour. The Deal was pure feelgood — I’m going to reread the rest as well before I jump on The Goal. I love this series.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber // ★★★★
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson // ★★ 1/2
Although I didn’t read much this month (again. Unsurprisingly) I read a few books that were absolutely amazing. I finally finished The Rose Society, which I’d initially started reading last year as part of a buddy read, and thank goodness I did because it blew me away. Sometimes, if you’re not feeling a book, you should just wait until the time is right. If I had carried on reading it when I wasn’t in the mood for it, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it half as much as I did this time round. Empire of Storms arrived late, but I ended up binge-reading it in less than three days, spending every waking moment either reading it or agonising over the characters, the plot, the pain and feeeeels. Caraval also blew me away, and it was beautifully written. A mash-up of Alice in Wonderland and The Night Circus, I am not surprised this book is on everyone’s radar because it is amazing.
This is going to be very short, since we didn’t actually do any posting in September. So sorry about that! Aly’s been absolutely swamped in work, while I’ve been dealing with a pretty severe bout of depression and felt completely uninspired. Also, we’ve been taken hostage by Vernon Dursley.
Because of that, we’ve decided we could do with a few helping hands. So we’re officially looking for co-bloggers! We don’t really have any requirements, just that you’re easy to work with and that we get along. Blogging experience is not an issue. Please help us spread the word!
Yeah, as I’ve said, I’ve been feeling really depressed. It’s like, now that I finally somewhat have my anxiety under control, my depression pops up and goes “YES HELLO I AM HERE TOO.” I’ve been feeling rotten and crying a lot, which left absolutely no room for blogging. I feel mentally blocked and uninspired.
I’ve been feeling a little better these past few days, with a few niggles for blog post ideas. By the time this goes up, I’ll also have finished my 20 hours of driving lessons! This means I’ll be allowed to drive by myself, so I can practise for the exam.
Also, I am going on hiatus for the month of October. I’m having surgery on the 13th (it’s nothing major, just corrective ear surgery), so I thought this would be a good time to take a break and hopefully find my groove again. I’ll be available on Twitter and Goodreads and wherever else I spew nonsense. I’ll see you in November. ♥
AUTUMN IS HERE AND IT IS GLORIOUS and because of it, my September month has been awful and amazing at the same time. I’ve been working six nights a week since Summer started, but September took a turn for the worst when I ended up working fourteen nights in a row and it absolutely murdered me. So I’m so sorry for the lack of posting — I’m blogging a tonne as we speak to make up for it.
We’ve missed you guys! What have you been up to? Although Inge is taking a hiatus for a month, I won’t be, and I look forward to a month of fun!
How did September treat you?
