Of Wonderland’s Monthly Wrap-Up Post: December 2016

And thus ends another year at Hogwarts.

Pft, I wish.

But I’ll gladly take the end of this steaming pile of horse shit year. Though we end the year with two new co-bloggers and three new guest posters, so I’m terribly excited for what’s to come for Of Wonderland. Aly’s been swamped with work so didn’t have the time to add to the wrap-up post, but our two fresh faces are here to tell you all about their months.

I hope you’ve all had happy holidays, spent time with family members who don’t ask questions that induce existential crises, had good food, and received a bunch of books. And if you didn’t celebrate, then I hope you had a good month regardless. Here’s to new chances. ♥

Because December really is the best time for re-reading Harry Potter. We’ve started an Of Wonderland group read (just the four of us and our friend Natalie) for HP, which has been lots of fun so far! And it’s Anissa’s first time reading it and she’s in a group full of rabid fans. So no pressure or anything. I also LOVED Gemina! It wasn’t as good as Illuminae, but it will still blow your brains out and hump your skull.

Can’t say I did an awful lot this month. I’m still having a tough time with the loss of my cat, so I’ve mostly been reading a lot and watching TV to get my mind off of things. Game-wise, I played The Wolf Among Us, which was really cool, and am now playing Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna), which is beautiful!

My Christmas Eve was spent with my parents, grandmother, brother and his girlfriend, and afterwards it was quiet. Watched some New Girl. Created Schmidt and Nick on The Sims. As you do.

I’m really excited for 2016 to be over and to get a fresh start for 2017. I don’t really do new years resolutions, but this year, I would like to:

  • finish writing a bloody book already
  • finally start travelling again
  • see my friends again
  • get my driver’s license

So here goes. I wish you all the best in your new year’s endeavours. ♥

How goes it? I don’t really know how to sum up my year of 2016, I don’t think I ver have a clue whether to call it a great year or an okay year. But, seeing as I like being positive about things, I’ll call it a great year! I had some ugly moment throughout 2016 but honestly, focusing on those will get me nowhere so let’s just focus on the good stuff. I got to spend the holidays with my family, or clan more like because I have way too many cousins and aunts and uncles, and I went to a holiday party my sister has annually at her house. There was a lot of loud singing on the karaoke machine, tons of good food, I played video games with my cousins, and even learned how to salsa dance thanks to my sis! It was actually quite fun! For my New Year’s resolutions, I don’t really have any resolutions but I do have goals:

  • Open an art shop to sell prints of my original artwork
  • Reread all my favorite book series
  • Do some more traveling
  • Finally dye my ends blue
  • Actually submit one of my books to a publishing house

Not sure if any of these will see the light of day but hey, I have twelve months to get everything in motion right?

Hey everyone! I’m typing this up on December 30th and I can’t BELIEVE how fast 2016 has flown by! My heart goes out to all the people that have suffered miserably in 2016, because let’s be honest: this year has been weird and shitty in equal measures. Personally, 2016 wasn’t the most amazing year of my life, but it wasn’t the worst either, so I’m grateful for that.

I had a pretty good Christmas and I’m looking forward to celebrating in the new year in my usual fashion – staying up till midnight with a good book! I’m actually really excited for 2017 and have written down soooooo many goals and resolutions that I *hope* I keep and succeed in 2017. The most important ones though are just to FINISH one of WIPS, fiiiiiiiiinally settle down on what I want to do as a career when I finish school (next year is my last year!!!! *screams*) and start a business of some sort. No pressure or anything 😛

Happy new year, Wonderlings! See you on the other side. ♥

Sharing is caring!

  1. What an year this has been! It always amazes me to see how many books you mange to read each month, Inge- because I somehow o the other always end up reading way less than I initially plan to 😛 Rereading HP together sounds amazing- and it’s even better when there’s someone who’s new to HP!!! Hope Anissa ends up a Potterhead too…I dare her not to 😀
Wish you all a happy new year, and good luck with all you hope to accomplish in 2017!

    • It’s weird, because I often have periods of time where I don’t read for weeks! But ARCs are pretty quick to read for me, and I also have a lot of free time because of my anxiety and depression. I feel better seeing Ella and Anissa’s reading lists, though 😀

      Happy new year, Ruzaika! <3

  2. Hooray for 2017! I love your list of goals. I hope traveling/seeing friends will lead to a trip to visit me and Sebastian. Or us visiting you. ;D (But no pressure. We have all of life to meet!)

  3. Happy New Year Inge! I completely understand that the loss of your cat is still at the forefront of your mind, but I love that you’re challenging yourself in this new year! Best of luck with your license–I am sure you will get it!!–and let me know if/when/where you’d like to meet up this year while I’m in Europe! <3 This year has been such a low one, in terms of the world and in so many people's personal lives, too, but I love that the end of the year has ended on such a high in terms of this blog! I adore it and am so excited to read new posts from you and your wonderful co-bloggers!

Wishing you all the best in 2017, Inge! You deserve nothing but happiness and I hope all of your new year dreams, goals, and wishes come true! Keep up your positive energy and wonderful wit–it never fails to put a smile on my face–and I hope we can finally meet this year, my dear! All the best! xoxoxox

  4. Happy new year! I hope you guys all have an incredible 2017 and accomplish all that you hope to! <3

I'm going to be reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the first time soon and I'm terrified because it's going to emotionally damage me, probably. Wish me luck! XD
