10 Books I’m Excited to Read!

HELLO. I feel like I haven’t done a proper blog post in ages, in which I talk about books and things I’m excited about! So here I am, talking about books I’m excited about. Some of these are pre-orders which I can’t wait to get my greedy paws on. Some of these have been out for YEARS so I literally have no excuse for why I haven’t read them yet. HERE GOES.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab // I mean, I hardly think this needs an explanation? It’s the finale we’ve all been waiting for! I absolutely love the Shades of Magic series – it’s fun, all the different kinds of London are really interesting, it has blood magic, and ships like you wouldn’t believe.

Hunted by Meagan Spooner // It’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling! How could I not be excited for this? Also, I’ve heard a gazillion things about this book, and I absolutely adore the cover. I’m ready.

Waste of Space by Gina Damico // It’s Gina Damico. After her fantastic Croak trilogy, I’ll pick up anything that woman writes. I’m also pretty geeky about spacey things, so I am VERY excited for this. (Honourable mention: 27 Hours by Tristina Wright. Queer teens in space!)

Everything All At Once by Katrina Leno // Honestly, this blurb had me at “Lottie Reeves has always struggled with anxiety”. I’m trying to read as many mental health books as possible, so I can recommend all the things. But I’m also naturally drawn towards books with bucket lists. I think this’ll be good.

Lucky In Love by Kasie West // Okay, so I didn’t particularly care for By Your Side, but I’m still really looking forward to this one. Kasie West is the queen of contemporary YA at the moment, so I’m hoping that I’ll get lost in this one. Plus, it’s always fun to see what a person would do if they win the lottery.

One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus // 5 students go into detention, only 4 come out. It’s like The Breakfast Club gone horribly wrong. I LOVE IT.

If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo // I’ve been doing my best of reading diversely, and one minority I really want to read more about is transgenders.

The Hundred-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson // Honestly? I want to read this because it sounds like so much fun. I can’t wait to pick up this book and have a good laugh.

The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough // This book comes highly recommended by Jolien @ The Fictional Reader, and after she shared a poem from the book with me, I immediately bought it. I just love the concept.

A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard // Beautiful Broken Things kind of broke my heart, so I was really curious about this new release. It has a deaf protagonist, which I haven’t read a lot about. I think it’s bound to be really cute and beautiful.

So that’s my list! Have you read any of these? What are you excited to read about?

  1. Is it bad I barely recognize any of these? Well, apart from A Conjuring of Light – that one has been all over my timeline recently! It just goes to show how out of touch with the book world you can be after a year away. XP Based on your little snippits though I’d say the two I’m most curious about are One of Us is Lying (the title is enough to intrigue me, tbh) and If I was Your Girl (I don’t think I’ve actually read a book with a focus on a transgender). I look forward to seeing what you think of them! 🙂 (Also, yay for you writing a post. Sending love your way! <3)

    • A lot of them are pre-orders, so I don’t think it’s bad you don’t recognise them! I used to have NO idea about future releases but now I focus on them a lot. Hugs! ♥

I, too, am looking forward to A Conjuring of Light. But, my preorder is already here. MWAHAHAH. Binge reading time!

  3. ACOL!! Favorite book of last month, hands down. I can’t wait to read Everything All At Once. Have you read Katrina Leno’s other books?

Also, hello! It’s nice to see you here. 🙂

    • I actually read it last week! It finally arrived in the mail and I couldn’t wait to pick it up 😀 I ended up rating it 4 stars, I think! Super cute.

  4. I hope you’ll like The Game of Love and Death, because now I’m afraid I hyped it so much to you that you won’t like it. Why do I ever recommend anything? I always feel so weird after recommending something. I stand by my opinion on the book though, so I do want you to read it. Am I making any sense??

Also: I loved ACOL. And I just started One of Us Is Lying! Waste of Space sounds intriguing, I’m adding that one to my endless to-read list 🙂

    • I find recommendations to be quite stressful as well because WHAT IF THEY DON’T LIKE THE BOOK? I mean, technically life goes on but IT IS STILL STRESSFUL. I’m a few chapters in with ACOL and I’m slightly terrified.

    • I finished ACOL last night and just PHEW, what a ride! I read the second half in one day, I just couldn’t put it down. How did you fare?

    • I can’t wait to read all of these! Now that I’ve read ACOL, my highest anticipated read is Hunted. Come on, March 14… 😀
