So I didn’t realise this until I started adding my ratings here, but wow I’ve had a really lousy reading month! So many two-star ratings, yikes. Did I just have bad luck picking up books that weren’t for me, was I not in the mood, or am I becoming more strict with my ratings? Does that mean I’ll get a really good rating month in August? One can only hope. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some really solid reads. (Harry Potter was excellent, though.)

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli //  ★★★★

I’ve had an absolutely abysmal reading month which I blame entirely on summer being so summer-y this year. It’s too hot to sleep during the day, which makes me cranky and irritable when I’m working at night, which leads to 0 productivity but plenty of coffee-drinking and binge-eating. However, The Last Namsara was pretty damn good!

Once and For All by Sarah Dessen // ★★★★
Wesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn // ★★★1/2
Level Up (Fandom Hearts #1) by Cathy Yardley // ★★★★
Article Three (Systemet #1) by Anna Jakobsson Lund // ★★★3/4

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han // ★★★★★
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han // ★★★★★
Always And Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han ★★★★★

Urgh, the reading slump monster has bitten me badly this month. Jenny Han’s gorgeous trilogy were the only books I could get through that I didn’t put down because I was bored or couldn’t concentrate. But at least they were all amazing books right?! Even though the first two books were rereads haha.

Um…I didn’t read anything this month. -hides- I’m sorryyy. I just had too much going on! It’s hard to read ebooks on my tiny phone, and I’m not a huge fan of audiobooks. (I listened to Illuminae on Overdrive’s audiobook section.)

July 1: Of Wonderland Book Club: July 2017

July 3: The Witcher Is Coming to Netflix! + Theories

July 4: Words On Bathroom Walls // Only Harry Potter Is Allowed To Hear Things That Aren’t There

July 5: The Blogger Stats Book Tag // Get To Know Me!

July 6: Inge’s Favourite Reads of 2017 (So Far)

Well then! I think the most important things that happened this month are the revamping of the blog (ISN’T IT BEAUTIFUL?) and I turned 25 on the 18th! I still have a giveaway planned, which will go up sometime in August. But yeah, I’m 25 now, which is a weird feeling. I still don’t feel like an adult at all? Has someone found the Escape button on this thing yet? I mean, if the need arises, I’m still always going to be looking for an adultier adult to do the adulting. The good thing is, I got new bookshelves!

Aren’t they pretty? I’ve wanted rainbow shelves for so long, but was unable to do so with my old shelves. I could stare at these forever.

July has been an insane month for me in all the worst ways. My sleeping schedule is all over the place, I’ve started smoking again and it basically sucked from start to finish. HOWEVER, I’m off to London this week, so things are looking up! August is going to be a very, very busy month, and I’ve decided to take a blogging break to recharge. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy our new design, and don’t miss me too much.

Umm, well, HI. Goodness, I feel like I’ve done nothing this month other than start my fall clothing shopping (I’M SO DONE WIH SUMMER) and, well, working. I guess one big update is that I dyed my hair pink so that was fun. I have pictures of it on my Instagram in case you want to see how it turned out.

In other news, I’ve also been pretty busy with going to the doctor and multiple hospital visits (It’s TONS of fun . . .) AND I also managed to do some deep cleaning in my room and closet which made me feel really productive. Yay for adulting!! *cries in corner*

Hello, hello! I hope your July was good. I’m very happy that us peeps in NZ only have one more month of Winter and then it is SPRING. I am so sick of this cold gross weather omg, although I have to admit I do love curling up by the fire with a cup of tea while it pours outside but still…THIS GIRL CAN’T WAIT FOR SPRING!

But otherwise I’m so excited for the new blog design you guys…IT IS SO SO BEAUTIFUL AND WE CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU GUYS TO SEE IT. *happy dance*

I’m traveling. I’m still in Hong Kong. I went to the Hong Kong Book Fair. Not too bad. But a small English section. Per usual.

And I’ve been working on my Camp NaNoWrimo story. It’s called Ravensoul. And you can read a bit about it here. And you can read all my Tweets about it here.

And how are you?

Sharing is caring!

  1. @ Inge: Yay for you rereading HP!! :))

@ Ella: I love that you’ve read Jenny Han’s trilogy again! I’m currently reading Always and Forever and I’m still a little scared about the ending because I have no clue what’s going to happen. I’m hoping for the best though!

@ Anissa: pink hair is always awesome! 😀 I’m going to dye my hair blue soon :))

Wish all of you a great August!

Here’s my July Wrap Up @ Swissbookworm

  2. @Inge: Ugh, what a bummer. Thank god for Harry Potter! Sebastian and I read quite a few excellent books in July, if you want any recommendations. I absolutely love your shelves! Age 25, though. I really thought that would be the year I finally felt like an adult, but LOL, nope. ? I sadly haven’t found an Escape button, but know you’re not alone! I’ll always be looking for an adultier adult, too, haha.

@Aly: Have fun in London! I hope August is a better month for you.

    • I loved me some Daniel Tate, and I’m quite curious about Saints and Misfits! Hahaha, will there ever be a time when we’ll finally feel like adults?

  3. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, INGE! I hope you had a lovely day! <3 Your shelves look stunning. I'm sorry that you had a sucky reading month, I luckily read a lot of good books last month and I hope that this month will be the same! Have you read And I Darken by Kiersten White? I LOVED IT SO MUCH.

Ella, I'm so glad to see you loved the Lara Jean trilogy! I read Jenny Han's summer trilogy a few years back and I adored it so I'm hoping I'll love this trilogy too! 😀

I hope you all have a wonderful August!

  4. Even though you guys did not have the best reading month, I am seriously impressed with your new design! I love the floral detail and the blue and the red and pretty much everything actually.

I hope that August treats all of you better. The seasons are changing pretty soon (whether from summer to fall or winter to spring), and bringing the beginnings of a fresh start.

    • Thank you, Tessa! I’m really in love with our design as well – Aentee did such an amazing job. I’m certainly looking forward to fall! I’m not a summer person, haha.

  5. I haven’t said so before, but I LOVE your blog’s look, it is just so pretty, I could stay here and stare at it all day <3
I'm sorry to hear you all kind of had a bad reading month, I'm hoping August will be filled with great reads, no reading slumps and five-stars-books that you want to recommend to everyone 🙂
Happy belated birthday to you, Inge! I hope you had a great time on your birthday….and if you ever find the escape button on that adulting thing, please let me know ahah 🙂
Hope you'll all have a wonderful month! <3

  6. Those shelves are so pretty! Hope you have a better month in August, Aly! And I feel you about the bad weather, Ella. While it’s not winter here in England, it’s also certainly not… summer. Where I’m from it would be more like a rainy fall haha. Hope you’ll get some sun soon! And yay for Hongkong, Wren, hope that’s fun!
