Aly & Inge Gush Over FairyLoot’s TRICKSTERS Box

Posted August 4, 2017 by Both in Wrap-Ups & Unboxings / 7 Comments

Inge: Hello, Wonderlings!

If you are familiar with our faces, you may know that Aly and I are big fans of the subscription box FairyLoot. It is a box filled with magic, the items selected with love and care and put together by fairies. Every month, readers from all over the world gasp in awe and wonder as they unravel the mysteries of each new box. And so did we, in July! We immediately gushed to each other about it because it was SO GOOD. And here we are, gushing again.

The theme was TRICKSTERS and was marketed “for fans of Six of Crows, Harley Quinn, Harry Potter, Loki and Sherlock“, so naturally, we had to get it.

Time for us to showcase all the items!

Inge: That is a very sexy cover.

Aly: Not only is it a sexy cover, but it FEELS SO NICE. I love covers that have a softer finish.

Inge: Yes. It’s good for stroking.

Aly: Heh, stroking.

Inge: I was really excited! I’ve wanted to read a good carnival/circussy book for ages. I was so disappointed by Caraval.

Aly: I really enjoyed Caraval, but I’m getting some serious Darren Shan vibes from Daughter so I think I’m a billion times more excited for this one than I ever was for Caraval.

Inge: I’ve actually just finished reading Daughter of the Burning City right now and it’s really good. There’s some definite winks to Cirque du Freak. It’s fun. But with murder.

Aly: Ooh, fun and murder are my favourite things in books.

Inge: You will luuuurve it.

Inge: It also came with this gorgeous bookmark, which is Six of Crows themed, and has a gorgeous feather on the back!

Aly: *flails excitedly*

Inge: This mug so cool! I could definitely see myself drinking coffee from this while being seriously productive. You know, if I ever drank coffee. Or was ever productive.

Aly: So I really like the feel and design of the mug, especially since it feels… sturdier than the other mugs that have been included. Except I’m not a fan of Sherlock, so the quote went completely over my head and into another realm. Oops.

Inge: What do you mean you’re not a fan of Sherlock what is this atrocity

Aly: Welcome to my deep, dark secret and traumatised past. I am officially a New Adult novel.

Inge: … great.

Aly: I am best pleased that a Loki item was included in this month’s box.

Inge: Ah, yes, I have very fond memories of the Tom Hiddleston conversation that bonded us forever.

Aly: Unfortunately, again, because my skin hates me I probably will never use the lotion in case I have another episode of Nightmare on Elm Street in which my skin melts off my bones. True story.

Inge: It’s true, Aly actually had to take a break from blogging and social media to spend some time with her remaining skin.

Aly: It was a horrific time in my life. My skin and I have never been closer.

Inge: I am glad to hear it. I have used it, though, and while I can’t really pinpoint the smell, it is quite pleasant.

Aly: GeekyClean always seem to have the most delicious smelling items.

Inge: Plus, kudos for the pun. I love a good pun.

Inge: !!!!!!!!!

Aly: ^ My reaction exactly. The playing cards are Warner Bros items and oh my kittens, they are FANTASTIC. I’m slightly too scared to open the tin in case I ruin them.

Inge: I may have gasped in delight and squeed a little when I opened them. They are BEAUTIFUL.

Aly: I most definitely gasped and squeed. We are two peas in a pod.

Inge: Two bacons in love.

Aly: Two halves of a whole idiot.

Inge:

Aly: Okay, so the oven mitt is most definitely the item that made me chuckle out loud, mostly because I don’t cook so haha, oven mitt, how novel. It is a very cool design, though, and super soft. Overall, I lurve.

Inge: You know what I love about FairyLoot?

Aly: Anissa’s ridiculously good looks?

Inge: Well, yes, but–

Aly: The shiny hardcovers?

Inge: Yes, but–

Aly: EVERYTHING?

Inge: ASIDE FROM EVERYTHING? It’s the fact that all of these items aren’t just for looking at, but you can actually use them in your day-to-day life. Lighting a nice candle, rocking an oven mitt, playing a game with those Hogwarts cards (!!!!!!!) (still not over these). You can enjoy them daily, which is so cool.

Aly: The print is not only beautiful but it’s also a quote from one of my favourite comic book characters ever. Harley Quinn is so complex and interesting and I’ve loved her for years. I’m so happy to finally have a HQ related item!

Inge: I haven’t read the comics or seen the movie so I know nothing Jon Snow, but it’s so beautiful!

Inge: WELL that’s the end of our gushing for now. We hope you enjoyed this post! Let us know in the comments if you’d like to read more joint posts. Additionally, you can read all about FairyLoot on their website — don’t forget to subscribe so you’re the first to know about future boxes and suppliers (and see Anissa’s stupidly gorgeous face)!

  1. I’ve read and heard so many positive things about Fairyloot’s boxes. I really liked the Six of Crows bookmark I’m definitely going to have to pick one up soon. Thanks so for such an awesome post. I just stumbled upon your blog, and I’m greatly enjoying its content.

I’m new to blogging and book reviewing, and I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I’d love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.

    • Thank you for the kind words, Breeny! I’m kind of rehasing what you wrote in your own blog post, which is – be yourself, and reach out to other bloggers to get your blog out there. Readers love it if your personality comes through in posts, that makes it unique. When reading a book you want to review, write down a few things while reading so you don’t forget to mention them. This is especially important for me because my memory skills suck hahaha. Good luck!

  2. OH this post was so much fun to read, I loved hearing your thoughts about this box! I never tried any subscription boxes, mainly because it is a bit expensive with the shipping fees for me. But the Fairyloot ones sounds fantastic, especially for someone like me, trying to get more into fantasy 🙂
    Great post 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Marie! We had a lot of fun writing this post together. FairyLoot is definitely the way to go if you’re looking for more fantasy reads, but I do understand – the shipping costs can be quite high. Give it a try if you come across a theme that you really like the sound of!

  3. I must admit that I’m a Book Box Club addict, so even reading this post made me feel a little bit like a traitor, but OMG it all looks so pretty. The bookmark is gorgeous and the mug might have just killed me a little … not to mention that I am very excited by the fact that everything is actually useful.

Also, well. Reading you guys having a conversation is utterly hilarious and I love it.

  4. I loved this post – your conversation was so funny! XD

I love the look of FairyLoot’s boxes and I’d love to subscribeone day (when I have a job haha)!
