Of Wonderland Book Club: September 2017

Dear Wonderlings,

Welcome to another month of our #OWBookClub. This is a book club designed for you and by you – instead of choosing a single title, we pick a theme each month. The theme will allow you to pick books off of your shelves without having to buy a new book every time – but if you wish to do so, don’t let us stop you.

Last month was a very generous and comprehensive theme – books in a series. We hope you’ve taken the opportunity to catch up on your series or start completely new journeys. My two note-worthy reads were To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Tiger’s Watch, both new series. I’m looking forward to reading the sequels!

I guess you could call each new month of the book club a sequel, too. (How smooth is this segue, huh?) A new month calls for a new theme, and this time around, you have chosen…

New-to-me authors!

Another theme that encompasses a lot (a LOT) of books, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding books! The only limit is that they have to be books of authors you haven’t read before. I am personally quite fond of this theme, and hope that it helps you discover some gems in unexpected places. I’m trying to focus on ARCs a bit, so I’m always discovering new authors. For September, I’ll be planning to read Starfish and 27 Hours.

As always, we have a few handfuls of recommendations for you as well.

And don’t forget to check our little Goodreads group for more recommendations, reviews, and discussions.

And so we have come to the end of our post, with only thing left to do. The neverending question: what would you like to read next month?

Happy reading, Wonderlings.

What author have you been dying to read?

  1. I absolutely love the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series and last month I read the third book in the series 🙂

Maybe I’ll be able to read some of my books on my long-time tbr pile in my shelves, as I’ve got a lot of them by authors I’ve never read anything by them yet.

    Have a lovely September!

  2. Ahhh, I want to read Scythe so badly! I have a rule about not starting new series until I’ve finished half-completed ones, though, so I likely won’t get to it for a while.

For a Sarah Dessen starter, I’d also recommend Along for the Ride! It was my first Dessen novel, and I loved it dearly even though her style of book isn’t usually my sort of thing.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll be reading this month. If books we started last month but finish this month count, my read will be The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. If not, I have no idea what I’ll end up reading! Perhaps The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nyugen or Give Me a Fast Ship by Tim McGrath?
