HOW IS IT STILL JANUARY. I feel like it’s been January for at least 11 years. Anyhoo, still not an active month for us, and we’re bearing some very sad news (hint: it’s in the title). So without any extra poo-ha, I’m just going to let this wrap-up post start rolling…
Cheer Up, Love: Adventures in Depression With the Crab of Hate by Susan Calman // ★★★1/2
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff // ★★★★★ (reread)
The Half Life of Molly Pierce by Katrina Leno // ★★★
The Self-Care Project: How to Let Go of Frazzle and Make Time for You by Jayne Hardy // ★★★★
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman // ★★★★1/2
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas // ★★★★
I Was Here by Gayle Forman // ★★
By A Charm and A Curse by Jaime Questell // ★★★★
I’ve been reading a lot of mental health books for the #MHBookBingo this month — Starfish was definitely the most memorable one here. I’m also really happy to have FINALLY read The Hate U Give, because I’ve been so intimidated by that one, but it was so so good. And ILLUMINAE. ILLUMINAE! I will forever shout into the void about my love for this series and I CANNOT WAIT for Obsidio to come out!
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder // ★★★★★
some assembly required – 3/5
Whoops. I had a terrible reading month. I can blame winter break, but I honestly don’t know why I didn’t read as much. Yikes.
I went through a pretty nasty bout of depression during the first half of the month, so I’m currently still trying to claw my way out of there, which is taking up a lot of energy. But I did manage to see some friends, and mom and I went to the zoo the other day, which was really nice. We saw baby elephants! My main goal this year is to always have something to look forward to, so we are now zoo members for a year. *throws confetti*
Hi Everyone. This is very sad to write, but I am leaving Of Wonderland. I’ve loved my time here but now that I’ve finished school and I’m trying to figure out what’s happening next, I just don’t have the time to blog here anymore, sadly. I want to thank not just Inge, Aly, Anissa and Wren for being the very best cobloggers and friends on here but for all you peeps that have read and commented on my posts! You guys are amazing and make blogging so worth it. Thanks for everything <3
Inge: So, yeah, this one sucks monkey balls. I remember when Ella sent in her co-blogger application, Aly and I just instantly fell in love with her buoyancy and enthusiasm. This year with Ella has been so much fun, with lots of fangirling about Sherlock and shouting in frustration about Poldark and every time I talked to her, she made me laugh. So I’m very sad to see her go, but #reallife comes first. Ella, I wish you all the best things in the world, and I’m always here for you if you need me. Thank you. ♥
I came back from winter break. I’m still alive. Somehow… But I’ve been puttering along. I am, for some reason, more angsty and angry about everything now. Haha.
Schoolwise, it’s the same. Except I got a new Spanish teacher. His girlfriend believes in aliens apparently. I think that’s kinda cool.
I’ve also taken up photography. In the sense that I have a camera and am meaning to go out and take photos. I’ll probably set up a photoshoot with my Nendoroids soon.
Where are Aly and Anissa?
Aly has been on hiatus since the beginning of August. She has not been reading and is very busy with #life and #adulting, which we can all agree IS HARD. BUT she is making a comeback VERY SOON.
Anissa has succeeded in blowing up her laptop and is therefore unable to write any posts. Ironic, since she is the only one who seems to have a shred of blogging inspiration. She will be back as soon as she has a new thingy to play with.
With the departure of Ella, we may or may not be looking for a new co-blogger soon. We’d also really appreciate guest posts! E-mail me at email@example.com if you’d like to write a guest post for Of Wonderland.
And how are you?
